Associate Professor Dr. Oğuz Kağan Köksal finalized his undergraduate studies on July 22, 2008, at Balıkesir University, Necatibey Faculty of Education, specializing in Physics Education. He commenced his scholarly journey in December 2010 at Karadeniz Technical University, Institute of Science, Department of Physics, specializing in the Atomic and Molecular Physics Branch; concurrently, he was designated as a research assistant in accordance with Article 50/d of Law No. 2547.
To augment his global academic exposure throughout his master's program, he pursued further studies at Lund University, Department of Physics (Sweden) from August 16, 2011, to January 18, 2012, supported by an LLP ERASMUS Student Exchange Program scholarship. Throughout this timeframe, he successfully completed a PhD in atomic and molecular spectroscopy under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Sune Svanberg, who served as chair and was a member of the Nobel Prize in Physics Committee. He conducted investigations in Fourier transform spectroscopy, high-resolution laser spectroscopy, and level-transition spectroscopy. He further completed a course in atomic and molecular physics under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Joachim Schnadt, enhancing his experimental skills through investigations in diode laser spectroscopy, dual electron systems, and the Zeeman effect.
Upon returning to Turkey, he successfully completed his thesis-based master's degree in atomic and molecular physics at the Physics Department of KTU Faculty of Science on January 15, 2013. As part of his doctoral studies, between June 1, 2015, and July 31, 2015, he conducted scientific research, which was published in SCI-indexed journals, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Marek Lankosz at the AGH University of Science and Technology (Kraków, Poland), through the Erasmus+ Internship Program. He pursued his doctoral thesis research at the same university from October 4, 2017, to December 31, 2017. He successfully completed his doctoral thesis as a high honors student on January 17, 2019.
He served as a research assistant at Karadeniz Technical University from December 6, 2010, to February 4, 2019. On January 9, 2020, he commenced his role as an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Energy at Adıyaman University Gölbaşı Vocational School; subsequently, from July 6, 2020, to December 31, 2024, he was appointed to the Department of Electrical-Electronics Engineering at Adıyaman University Faculty of Engineering pursuant to Article 13/b-4 of Law No. 2547. From December 31, 2024, to July 21, 2026, he was reappointed to the Department of Electrical and Energy Engineering at Gölbaşı Vocational School. As of July 21, 2026, he continues his duties at Adıyaman University, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Electrical-Electronics Engineering.
Associate Professor Dr. Köksal has authored 25 articles, with 15 appearing in journals indexed by SCI and SCI-Expanded and 10 in other international publications. He has delivered 27 papers at national and international conferences and written two chapters for international books.
He has held positions as a project leader, researcher, consultant, and scholarship awardee in TÜBİTAK 3001, TÜBİTAK 2209-A, Erasmus+ KA131, KTÜ BAP, and multiple COST initiatives; he has additionally participated as a panelist and reviewer for TÜBİTAK. Additionally, he has acted as a reviewer for numerous scientific manuscripts in SCI and other indexed publications. In his commitment to societal advancement, he has served in scientific assessment roles at various TÜBİTAK Science Talks, as well as at symposia and conferences.
His administrative responsibilities include serving as the deputy chair of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, coordinating the Erasmus+ department, acting as the academic adviser for the IEEE Adıyaman Student Chapter, and serving as deputy director at the Astrophysics Application and Research Center. He has also served on the TEKNOFEST jury and assessment panels.
Associate Professor Dr. Köksal is an engaged participant in global academic networks, including the Swedish Alumni Network Turkey, the European X-Ray Spectrometry Association, the European Radiation Research Society, and GXARG at KTU.
On February 23, 2024, he was awarded his associate professorship in physics by the Interuniversity Board.
Associate Professor Dr. Oğuz Kağan Köksal is married, has two daughters, and is proficient in English.
